@Butterfly_tsuji See, I actually believe that repentance and forgiveness can be a paradigm shifting experience, but only if there is a true repentance, and then the forgiveness is offered as a divine gift, from one human to another.The problem is, predators are Hella manipulative and usually, excellent liars. And, victims are often pressured to feign forgiveness the way we are told to be kind.And, like those authoritarians demanding performative kindness when they are really asking for submission, the people asking for this kind of performative forgiveness don't give a half a fart about your actual moral wellness, they just want victims to stop whinging and act right, damnit.So, yeah. I hate this textbook.

@GrumpyOldNurse Forgiveness and repentance are religious concepts- clearly people can apply them to modern settings but I don’t think they have changed that much. The origin, I believe, is from Christianity/Catholicism Its strange to add this into a psychology bookLike if a child accidently smashes your plant id “forgive them”, or id me upset and then get over it. I even think forgive might be too strong a world but im still stalky about my text book.agree 100%, to the predators thing it what i said before with yelm.In a psychological setting for mental health, which tend to be serious circumstance of mental/emotion or and physicals harm its just whole inappropriate. The therapist is already leading the patient into an opinion 👁️ 👄 👁️ which is already unethical [?] and if its not in the ethnics guild it should be.

I've been thinking about this a bit more, and I'm now angrier with it and the use of this twaddle as therapy.It isn't just naive, it's dangerously naive, and actually sinister, as it panders to abusers and facilitates ongoing abuse. These useful idiots happily align themselves with the offenders. If it was true, that people only sin because they are misguided, this might, MIGHT, have a chance of being therapeutically valuable, but this Pollyanna nonsense refuses to acknowledge that some people actively choose evil.Anyway, this is a psychological fail because it does not acknowledge that some people are actively malicious and would choose to cause harm as quickly as a regular person would help someone they liked. There are offenders who go to extreme lengths to find someone to victimize.

@polarisera @Butterfly_tsuji I mean, it's a lot of what it's founded on. I went to a good college and almost every professor pre-faced teachings of Freud with the reality of who he was as a person, even though he contributed some good concepts (that we needed to learn about). Psychology can be a good science when done properly, but this woke shit is ruining it. Similar to how anthropology got ruined.

@LisbonMuse I am a psych major yes, the school banned me from taking criminology class [in PSYCHOLOGY] i spent a few months trying. But this is okay 👁️ 👄 👁️ . After harrasing the school for a while- they told me I could take one criminology class but Id hade to pay for MORE classes to take it because I needed a pre-requisite even though I am a senior. @LisbonMuse @polarisera same, my intro to psych class the professor hated Freud, and pointed out what was wrong with his theories but because he did the revolutionary thing of “listening” [lol men getting head pats for the bare minimum of things woman do all the time] and this theories were very structured so he gets credit as being a founder. its taking me a while to finish college for finance reason so things have changed ~over the years.I posted a picture before but the “gender studies class” at my school is full of trans and non-binary bullshit. Then their is a study of cultures…which might be okay but I don’t want to learn things steeped in critical race theory.🙄 Just reading of other papers online casual I see abuse defend because its “their culture” your applying western standards to another nation” I can’t handle the stupidity.
