@thepoliticalcat @jkfecke no, there's a whole convo about ally theatre so I see whether someone is doing it or not I don't ask. It's apparent over time when you start to actually get to know someone. And I'll grant you seem respectful enough and concerned so there's that I'm not saying you don't care.I could have guessed though re being straight and there's no judgement or sort of access gate keeping claim I intend by asking other than to check my assumptions. I am not straight so how I feel about it is more personal I was in the closet in the don't say gay, sorry don't ask don't tell era and that term just drummed into my little mind. She didn't change her mind about marrrige til '13, waaaay behind the curve more so than my conservative leaning mom who was raised as a homophobe.When it comes to whose an ally to whom I just do want that context to be there that when people are trying to demonstrate their alliance with the QUILTBAG my voice is one of them in the mix

Understandable why trans people may not want their movement subsumed into a broader pro-democracy movement though.Pew reported Democrat hesitancy for trans rights in 2017, but in 2023, trans rights are firmly part of the Democrat agenda.Bodily autonomy & agency is just as important to women as trans.
