@vivi@misskey.bubbletea.dev ultimately there's no 100% assuredly safe way to do it and a doctor will always advise against it, your body kinda needs oxygen to live and cutting it off is always a major risk. The way I've been taught how to do it though is to press on the side of the neck where the neck meets the shoulder, just enough to constrict the carotid arteries, which gives the same sensation of being choked without limiting any airflow or interfering with the lungs in any capacity - never for longer than about 10~20 seconds at a time depending on how tightly you're constricting the bloodflow (remember things happen a lot faster when bloodflow is involved rather than just air) and as always, immediately let go if any sign of panic, confusion/dissociation, or limpness/unconsciousness is apparent. Chokeholds in hand-to-hand combat sports typically operate this way.

@vivi@woof.archandle.net ok now this is quality!! ive heard similar stuff in regards to sex but never knew that there was an overlap between that and combat sports. i will go read up on that. i feel like there should be like medical grade discussion i can find in regards to that (as opposed to an article on sex by a literal who in an online blog), even if they ultimately wont tell me it is risk free or recommend it to me.thank you so much!! :punikothankyou:

@vivi@misskey.bubbletea.dev welcomes :firBlep: I'm also not by any means a professional on this stuff so any additional research will always be helpful! hopefully that's at least a good start into where to look though :firPure: good luck and stay safe! :digiHeart:

@vivi Use your fingers or the crook of your elbow to put pressure to the carotid arteries on the sides of their neck, but DO NOT put any pressure to the trachea at the front of their neck. Temporarily pinching off the amount of blood flowing to the brain can be safe, but preventing them from breathing risks collapsing their trachea which will kill them unless you know how to perform a tracheotomyIt's also very important that you stop once they start to pass out, otherwise they'll get brain damage and maybe dieThe technique I've found works best is to sit behind your partner and have them lay back against you, then wrap your arm around their neck with your forearm and biceps forming a V against the sides of their neck, and just flex to apply pressurePassing out from being choked is a weird ass feeling, it's like time just shut off for an instant

LISTEN TRAVELERS FROM THE FUTURE NON OF WHAT YOU WILL FIND IN THESE REPLIES IS MEDICAL ADVICE YOU SHOULD FOLLOW, I WILL USE IT AS A JUMPING OFF POINT FOR MY RESEARCH AND THEN POSSIBLY PRACTICE MY FINDINGS AT MY OWN RISK
