@jmw150 @Honksaw_Duggan modern judaism is based off of talmudic / rabbinic judaism. anything past 2nd Temple Judaism, they go into all theological study (yes even the orthodox) with the assumption that commentary on the original text is just as valuable as the original. the only fundamental disagreement the orthodox have with progressive judaism today is whether to comment on the entirety of the Torah, or to throw out the parts you dont like so you can ignore the commentary on those parts as well. so, this result is entirely unsurprising
