       I don't think they were created specifically for this purpose, because there's a totally valid use case, and how I first saw them. rather than having to link a however many socials or different sites for people, here's a single link where I can keep all my bullshit in one place. If you do youtube, rather than have to link youtube, twitter, patreon, gumroad, merch, insta, facebook, steam, twitch, discord, fedi, and whatever you might have to link, you just make a single linktree you can include on all your shit.Dont forget that twitter is gay and only lets you have a handful of characters in your bio, so rather than all your shit needing to fight for room, you just use one link to everything. I didn't realize insta was so hard on links, I assumed that shit on there was a mix of hiding porn links because that's against TOS and like engagement maximization, "here's the thing, i'll make them go to my profile and see MORE of my stuff and the FOLLOW button to click the link, plus there's now a sense of urgency to click before the link goes away".it is pretty fucking gay of them to do, but it does show that the second someone makes a rule, someone will try to find a way to spite it. Gotta love it. Also gotta love that the second it's offsite, instagram doesn't give a fuck what you link to, they know exactly how much horny onlyfans simps drive their engagement
