       i prefer "negative ethics" (to use Julio Cabrera's term) in that i prefer to focus my claims against what is 'unethical', rather than positing anything as 'ethical'. the focus is on what actions to *not* do, rather than what actions to doin this way, i think negative ethics avoids the pitfalls of 'obligation' and coercion that affirmative ethics implies. affirmation denies choice and violates autonomy. negating the affirmative, conversely, liberates choice and defends autonomy

       the ethical stance of negative ethics is simply: to not affirm. when applied to antinatalism, as Julio Cabrera does, the negative antinatalist stance is simply to not procreate. it is *not* to force anyone to not procreate. it still proposes abstaining from procreation, as any ethical claim is prescriptive, but it does not allow for coercion toward this end
