Regarding DeSantis' statement, from a prominent attorney: There is literally a crystal clear provision of the Constitution that says no state may refuse an extradition request from another state. So what DeSantis is saying here is that he plans to openly defy the Constitution.

@KimPerales I wonder if DeSantis is especially eager for the former president to take his offer and hide out in Florida. If that were to happen, Trump could no longer risk campaigning in person in other states. Without his rallies, the energy of Trump's presidential campaign could drop leaving an open field for DeSantis who would gain in the eyes of Trump's followers for "protecting" their hero.

@KimPerales If Florida refuses to cooperate in Trump’s extradition, then New York should try him in abstentia, and get a guilty verdict that subjects Trump to immediate arrest in all other states he sets foot in, via the “Good Faith and Credit” Clause of the U.S. Constitution’s Article IV, Section 1. Then, Trump can only do rallies in Florida until DeSantis gets tired of babysitting his archrival, or until they both kill each other. So, can you live with Trump exiled to Florida?
