@stux I like my car because it can bring me places. Often more efficient and even cheaper then public transport.And some roads are just fun to drive. Fun that has nothing to do with speed, but more with the required effort and concentration.

@stux my inlaws are insanely into Formula 1 and they know we don't give a shit. So anytime I'm forced to listen to or watch car racing, I make it a point to show them my magic the gathering cards and explain all the rules. Let them try bitching about it.

@stux It's a box. It gets you from A to B. That's pretty much how I see it.Some boxes are more comfortable than others. I was once given a lift in a Jaguar. Its owner was very proud of it. I thought it was the most uncomfortable car I'd ever ridden in.

@stux It is.To be fair, when I need to go into a city center, public transport all the way. But there are so many places where public transport just isn't a viable option. Especially the further away you get from the Randstad.Fun roads to drive are mostly found in other countries. I had a lot of fun in Norway last summer. An experience I wouldn't have had without a car.

@stux I live in Hilversum, and once I wanted to visit the Woudagemaal in Lemmer. Close to 4 hours travel time with public transport, about an hour by car.And I tend to get nauseous in diesel busses. So having to sit in one for 45 minutes doesn't sound like a fun time to me.Similar travel times to my parents. Either over 3 hours by OV with a call ahead bus at the end, or less then an hour by car.And the nausea means all I can do is look out the window, so no useful 'free time' there.

@stux I remember working at one place where they did a restructure as part of centralising IT services and they did one of those tedious introduction session for the newly merged teams and one of the icebreaker questions was "what is your favourite car and why"... I pissed off the organiser by saying "As an Engineer I believe cities should be designed so you don't need cars, and I'd rather get off my arse and walk"...

@stux I was in the back of a car on a fairly long journey with my brother last week.He's thinking of buying a car and kept pointing out the ones we passed that he liked.They all looked the same to me other than their colour.🤷 I think he seems to like the fancy wheels.

@stux You obviously wanted to know, so here you go: 😋 2017 Ford F250 Crew Cab, Long Bed, 4wd, 6.2L Gas. Upgraded with Kelderman dual steering stabilizer and Fox adjustable shocks on all for corners. Running on 35x12x20 Cooper ST Maxx rubber. HP? Unknown - enough to get the job done. Fuel Efficiency - about 12mpg running around town, 14-15 on highway, 8 when towing. (all per the truck's computer - i don't care enough to calculate).

@stux, I just wanted to mention that "DeLorean" is brand that I really appreciate and care about. Not only because it's famous from the "Back to the Future" movies, but also because it has a unique and remarkable design. I've recently heard that they are working on a new electric version (Alpha 5), which is really exciting news!
