ooooooh! I thought i went nuts but the useless daylight saving time set in.. š¤Ø I was so sure it wasn't thaaat late :blobcatgiggle: Can we please stop with this and put it back on normal time and never touch it again please :blobpray: A lot of people and animals would be thankful! I don't know why but all my Apple devices changed time automatically but Windows is still running in oldskool time while the zone is set :blobcatgiggle:

@stux But animals do not care, since it's not the time that changes but the clock that is moved haha xDOnly those that can read time using clocks will feel the impact xD

@stux This year, I opted to change the time since on all of my devices from US/Central to Costa Rica to avoid DST. I've only had to do the math of adding an hour occasionally for a few local appointments

@stux 1. If you don't want your Apple device to set the time zone automatically, toggle off the "set time zone automatically" switch in the settings2. I can't help you with Windows. There's a reason why people abandoned Microsoft products and their unreliability was the main one.

@stux In any event, I will give you a free etymology lesson. In Middle English, Eke was a cognate with Dutch Ook and German Auch, and we had a word called "Ekename" to mean "alsoname". With the indefinite article, it was "an ekename". It got shifted (Ć la "an other"-> "another"-> "a [whole] nother") to "a nekename", and this is where the English word "nickname" comes from.

@stux Oh, I just learned that Dutch has the world "slepen", which is a cognate with the German and Yiddish word "schleppen". The English word comes from the Yiddish and means the same thing as the German and Dutch cognates.

@stux @IronCurtain that's funny. I don't speak Dutch at all, but knowing Swedish and some German meant that I understood that. I'm not sure how it would be pronounced though.

@stux I wish we could spring forward and then leave it that way. I like having the light later at night. But I live in a place with a consistently long day anyway. Don't know how I would feel about it if I lived closer to the poles.

@stuxAt least here we have switching to winter time on the long Easter weekend, which is Friday to Monday.Funny thing NSW shifts hours twice a year. Neighbours in Queensland don't bother to change clocks at all(technically we should be in the same time zone).South Australia decided to go full crazy and set time difference with Sydney to 30 minutes š¤Æ
