       @internetarchive I certainly hope so, though I’m not sure, via the news reports, if the lawsuit will affect the books I’m borrowing—old, obscure, out-of-print, and with no available ebook (sorta like me).

       @internetarchive Unfortunately I'm worried you're not on solid legal ground here. The physical library analogy doesn't seem to hold when applied to digital copies; for one thing, copying physical books is very difficult, and for another, the reach of physical libraries is naturally limited by geographical distance, so you need lots of libraries and lots of copies.

       @strypey @AFutureGhost Project Gutenberg only does books that are over 95 years old. Also, Controlled Digital Lending means that one book gets loaned digitally per one book the internet archive has in its possession. Far too many people misconstrue this.

       @internetarchive I hope that, in addition to appealing, you're coming up with a plan to do something more clearly legal in the future. As much as I like IA's mission, the conclusions of this court seem pretty sound to me.
