Whoa when did #Apple slip in this little gem? Open #Safari and visit a page that includes one or more images that have embedded text, like this one. Hit Cmd-F and search for "quartz" or "drive" or "loop" - it jumps to the image and highlights the search term within. We live in amazing times.

@shacker I'm using Chrome on my Mac and tried this trick - works great!

@shacker @donmelton Live Text shipped two releases ago and it's one of the best features Apple ever shipped. Starting with the latest versions from last fall, you can search on text in Photos and results include text in images. It's wild.

@glennf @donmelton Thanks for the info! Actually I did know it worked in Photos, just didn't realize it extended to Safari.

@cobalt Oh interesting that it works on Chrome as well - Apple and Google in the feature wars.

@shacker Some functions are not limited to one app, but integrated system-wide. This also applies to the spelling checker, for example.

@glennf @shacker @donmelton I was helping debug some issues with a colleague last night. They sent me a screenshot of their laptop. I opened the image in Preview, zoomed into their ssh console, selected the text of the command they were using and was able to paste the corrected version back into our chat. Magic.

@slaine @glennf @donmelton That’s some elegant tech voodoo right there.

@shacker this feature landed with macOS Monterey and iOS 15. It is a feature that needs the ANE (Apple Neural Engine). Needs A12 or better so some might not notice if they didn’t update iPhone / iPad / Mac.

@Bryan Excellent thanks - one person said it didn’t work for them; now I know how to answer.
