Kyle Cheney with Politico tells us that Evan Corcoran is at the D.C. federal court house, presumably handing documentary evidence about how Trump lied to him about location of documents.Instead of trying to get SCOTUS to intervene in the docs case (which would be futile anyway) Trump has been encouraging violence against Bragg through his Truth Social account. Here is what we know about Jennifer Little, Trump's other lawyer who will be testifying against Trump(from the NYTimes):1/

Here is what I find interesting: She counseled Trump to be cooperative, which was the correct advice to give. Trump cannot be cooperative for reasons I will leave to the psychologists. She "left the case soon after" which I take to mean that her advice was not acceptable to Trump. He then brought in Corcoran who would certainly advise Trump to cooperate (because Corcoran is not hopelessly incompetent).2/

So evidently Trump lied to Corcoran to produce the results he wanted: obstruct the DOJ investigation.Going back to Nixon: When Nixon stopped fighting and resigned a few people were really annoyed, including young Steve Bannon and Paul Manafort. They thought Nixon should have kept fighting. These right-wing crazies like Trump because he keeps fighting. Trump is not going to stop fighting, even though fighting now is beyond stupid.3/

Trump doesn't see or accept the inherent power imbalance right now. He's accustomed to civil cases, where long delays are possible and he's (theoretically) on equal footing with his opponents because civil cases are citizen v. citizen.Criminal cases are the government against the individual. The government has the power. Individuals have constitutional protections because the government has the power.SoTrump isšŸŽµspitting into the wind and pulling the mask off the old lone rangeršŸŽµ 4/

Someone just asked me if delays help Trump. "Trump's strategy is to delay because this benefits him" is a trope that has to go now that we are moving into criminal law.Delaying civil cases can mean paying less money. When you "fight" criminal cases, you get yourself in more trouble and harm yourself, which is why, when clients are in big trouble (the government has the evidence and the potential defendant has no defenses) the best recourse is to cooperate.5/

The kind of "fighting" Trump is doing can add to the charges and cause him to be denied bail, etc. BUT this kind of fighting will appeal to the far-right wing kooks. Why do you think he wants his first campaign rally of 2024 to be in Waco Texas, a symbol of militias fighting the government? What he won't do (and probably can't do) is behave in a way that would cause him to lose the support of the right-wing gun nuts. Those are his peeps.6/

@Teri_Kanefield what happens if everyone collectively (media included) decides to ignore the violent rhetoric? Not engage with it from Trump or his minions?

@LittleYetFierce His right wing crazies see it because they follow him on Truth Social and other platforms, so the question is whether any of them will answer his call for violence.Having his threats picked up by main stream media could hurt him at a bail hearing :)

@Teri_Kanefield I hope they aren’t stupid enough to storm a court house or engage in violence toward members of the court. They are looking for anything to set off physical conflict and I was wondering out loud if the rest of us refuse to engage/react if it would deflate their sails or embolden him/them more.

@LittleYetFierce @Teri_Kanefield The only thing the January 6th protestors did wrong was being too peaceful and eventually going home.
