There's a reason why there's another version of #TikTok in #China and it's not to exclude you from amazing content..If there still aren't any alarm bells ringing when a company cannot launch an app in it's origin country I'm not sure what will..#Facebook or Metawhatever isn't much better but we know that devil, if people chose to use it you know the risks but with TikTok it's much more dangerous since it's guessing and well.. China.. :pooh:

@stux don’t agree with this view:1. Even if banning TikTok didn’t go against the US’s first amendment (which it does), there’s still the case that banning TikTok means that the US government is pissing off a lot of teenagers for doing everyday socializing. As for the fact that China uses TikTok to spy, there are so many other ways for China to do that, such as Data Brokers.

@calculsoberic There are ways for sure :blobcatgiggle: But the whole part of the Tor Browser is the accessibilty i think!There are soooo many ways to use VPNs or Tor via other ways but many people have no clue i think plus the info to get that is often hidden

@stux I think you're falling for the protectionism propaganda of American tech companies. American companies can't launch apps in China either, so if anything the fact that TikTok also has trouble makes me feel *better* about them.At the end of the day, it's all surveillance capitapism, though. There's not much of an argument for using YouTube over TikTok or vice versa. They're all trash.

@freakazoid Not really, I was against TikTok since the early start.. I look at the technical aspect of the app (and platform) and the sum is quite easy in this caseI really dislike privacy eating companies and especially with a regime on top of it that can request data whenever it likes

@stux Multiple layers of reasons though.The same app wasn't released in China have something to do with legislation, naming, financial, and censorship. @stux Douyin is the Chinese version of TikTok. The reasons why this version exists ware that ccp needs to control the information to fool the people and bytedance needs to avoid politic risks. Anyway, neither douyin or TikTok is worthy of spending any time on it.
