I don't do sun tanning or fake tan spray or whatever because I don't care how 'pale' I am..Many people in the West are willing to get cancer for a ''better look"Guess what. That "better look" is made up by us and it's bullshitplease, stop talking people down who look 'pale' since they simple don't wanna get skin cancerIt's super annoying, if I'm sick ill tell you. Don't ask because I look natural and not like a baked potato

Besides I have the ginger gen so the sun is not my biggest friend.. I've had many (super) sunburns as a kid that made me super mega sick so I don't even wanna take the risk!Some people don't get a nice tan but rather a burned skin..

@stux There used to be a time in which a tan meant lower class. Industrialization, moving jobs indoors and jets and tropical islands for rich that changed things. :(

@stux i don't even bother with sunscreen below 50spf and i've still gotten mild burns w 100spf.apparently my purpose in life is to make almost anyone feel better about their tan. ;)

@stux I've had folk who were really racist brag about how dark their tans were and look down on their noses at me because my fair skin doesn't tan much, and because I know how damaging it is, I treat tanning as a failure of skin protection.

@stux My dad has had so many skin cancers burnt off, sometimes taking months to heal.. I’m trying to avoid that so I wear a hat all summer and I don’t care if it looks daggy!

@stux No tan for me either.I don't like sunscreen (it mixes with sweat and gets in my eyes, no fun when i'm riding a bike) so i wear long sleeves and a big hat, and try to stay in the shade of trees and buildings.

@stux I never understood the whole tanning to look good thing. Same with the whole thing men have with hair on their head. Going bald? Be bold, shave it all off :successkid: (my hair grows like weeks, yet I still shave my head bald).

@stux I am not a ginger, but I am translucent with some freckles. I was so jealous of my friends who could tan as I grew up on the California coast. I burned a couple of times trying to get color but otherwise slathered on sunscreen and wore a cap. Today I have nice skin, no skin cancer experience, and feel quite popular having lived through vampire fandom 😅

@stux I get told that I look sick constantly, and that I should sunbathe more often. But I just can't tan! I'm pale enough to reflect the light of flashes when taking pictures and that's okay! I refuse to risk my health to look more tan. And of course, sunscreen gets applied every day
