@textfiles and did it indeed bring death? And if yes, to whom?

@textfiles yeah.. uh.. we once coated the magnetic disc inside in a thin layer of glue and crushed red match heads.. the idea was the drive would catch fire when you typed "mount /floppy" and it started to spin..

@textfiles Well, sure. Who wouldn’t? Assuming that person had a 3.5” drive, of course. Obsolete technology does save us from our worst impulses, sometimes.

@Bredroll @textfiles yep, I did that once. Put a skull and crossbones on the label so I wouldn't accidentally use it myself.I winder what ever happened to that...

@The_Stitched I assume so. The method I used doesn't really allow me to double check on things other than ensuring the data gets transferred.

@textfiles In the 80's I wrote a early megademo loader that hit the CIA hardware on the Amiga instead of using $5c trackdisk device like most, and at one point it had a major bug that caused it to track the heads around the disk surface so bad it caused actual data loss in under a second. We tweaked the bug until it could ruin a floppy contents so bad that a common disk recovery tool couldn't recover any of the contents after 2 days of analysis, packaged it, and released it as the "Fast disk destroyer" with an animated monster (Gilbert the snot monster from Saturday Superstore irrc) who burped when done. some text that it was intended to wipe sensitive diskettes within a second when being raided. Once started, just insert floppy, *BZZZZZT* and gone, next diskette, not even clicking go.I think its much more likely this is death bringer the game, but if you boot it and a green snot monster prompts for a disk, can you send me a copy? And dont try it, its dangerous for fragile old drive alignment/heads :)
