The glue holding NATO together is the idea of an insurmountable U.S. military, which cracked throughout the mideast wars, started falling apart outright with the post-J6 purges of the military, and is now dying even faster with the failure to fend off Russia's liberation of the Ukraine.If they arrest the presidential frontrunner, this is a huge dent in what remains of their international legitimacy. Countries like Russia and Chyna are pretty sharp, and see the writing on the wall, but even some of the boomer-tier governments will notice if we start seeing third world-style prosecution of former leadership. On the other hand, if they don't, it shows that they're afraid of what would happen as a result. Certain groups of people try to minimize this, mostly to try to sound clever and detached, but there's a huge number of heavily-armed Americans who are essentially just waiting for a Schelling point to converge upon, and every new escalation by the regime carries a risk of being that point.
