I really wish some of these amazing Android developers we have out there today would take a close look at some of the better iOS Mastodon apps that are now out there and make something as good for Android. Apps like IceCubes, Ivory and Mona have so many amazing features and options, yet the Android selection of apps is seriously lacking.Mona's theme system is the best of the best. @CliffWade I like Ivory and Toot but if I'm honest I prefer Fedilab on Android over both of them. It's not as flashy, but it actually has some unique features.

@CliffWade I like Ivory and Toot but if I'm honest I prefer Fedilab on Android over both of them. It's not as flashy, but it actually has some unique features.I'm not just talking quirky features either. Fedilab can follow threads across instances and get every post.

@jcrabapple Those are good along with Trunks. But compared to iOS apps, they don't compare in so many ways.

Mona app for example has an amazing theming system that you can share themes that users create and you can click a special link to download and activate them. Ivory has tons and tons of options, especially for sharing posts and many other things. Menus are just better organized and again, with more options.

@jcrabapple@dmv.community @jcrabapple@shrediverse.net In the end, it's just a personal preference really. Ivory now also lets you use regex for several things, such as filters and stuff. Kind of a neat thing as well.While yes, I do work for an Android app, and I love Android and the Pixel devices, I just feel apps on iOS are way more polished and much smoother and cleaner looking.

@CliffWade @jcrabapple@shrediverse.net See I much prefer Android apps and design language to anything on iOS. The only feature you mentioned there that seems useful is sharing themes, but megalodon and moshidon have great theming built in.

@jcrabapple@dmv.community @jcrabapple@shrediverse.net Those two apps do have good themes, as does Trunks, but they are very limited compared to something like Mona. It's an entire theming community they have going on. You can look at @chamona for some examples.

@CliffWade Megalodon is the best app I’ve used on Android, but yeah it doesn’t come close to the overall user experience of Ivory or IceCubes. It’s hard to pinpoint why exactly they are better than the Android equivalents, but if you’ve used them you just get why they are better.
