#steamdeck users: have you had any games crash because it ran out of memory (or suspect that might be the case)?

@craftyguy never, although the heaviest game I ever ran on my deck was Spider-Man remastered

@gsora ah alright. I'm working on something that might help with situations where memory runs low, but now having trouble finding something to reproduce it.I definitely hit a OOM with Kerbal Space Program, but of course now that I'm looking for it, it doesn't want to happen.

@craftyguy I did. Horizon Zero Dawn crashes after 5+ hours of gameplay. It just leaks memory slowly until it crashes.

@craftyguy not on my end, but if you encounter such issues you should give it more SWAP and change the swappiness (swappiness change is not needed or recommended). Proton crashing is more likely since it is a compatibility layer. To get detailed information add this to the launch options "PROTON_LOG=1 %command%" (does not work with Linux natives games), wait for the crash and report it on Valves Github page to the suiting game. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+sort%3Aupdated-desc

@craftyguy Maybe you can try quick traveling, looking around, then travelling again!

@linuxpoweruser ya I'm working on something to help with OOM, but having a way to reproduce it with games would let me know if this thing I'm working on is helping or not. (I'm working with Valve on SteamOS, probably should have led with that in the original post...)
