Uhh.. Lovely people of France ❤️ I totally understand that it sucks that the minimum general retirement age will rise from 62 to 64But uh.. in the #Netherlands it's still 66 years and four months :blobfoxlurk2: So it can be much worse :blobcatgiggle:

@stux Yeah, the French people don't garner much sympathy from me either. They seem to complain a lot without putting forth any alternative solutions to the very real problem of changing population demographics.Complaining about reality seems to just be petulant whining to a large extent to me anyways.

@stux I worry now that there will be another election filled with disinformation from Russia trying to convince the voters to elect a far-right government because Macron protected the country's pension program by raising the retirement age to 64.But really, we can't worry about those disinformation peddlers since we're damned if we do or damned if we don't since they'll always find (or create) some issue to base their lies off of anyways.

@stux You do have a point, but, since the beginning of this century the Dutch economy generated 80 billions in interests for shareholders while workers salaries decreased by 60 billion euros. I'm sure there is a much more fair way to get you a decent pension than make you work till 70 when the time is there for you to retire. 😀

@stuxThankfully I can start pulling from my retirement accounts at 59 1/2. I'm planning to mostly retire at 51. Live off my liquid savings, rental income, and maybe work some side jobs in the in-between time.Been fortunate and smart enough to save as much as I could early on. Don't live like a pauper, just didn't waste money on stupid shit like I see so many do..

@stux This is, or will be, a problem with many countries. An aging population with not enough of a working population to pay for promised government benefits. It's a math problem. In my country (USA), I think the most expedient solution is to apply the Social Security withholding tax on all income and not just a portion thereof.
