16 March 1939 | A Jewish boy, Adalbert Berkovits, was born in Simleul Silvaniei. Adalbert was a son of Eugen & Irina. He had an elder sister Elly. The father was deported to a slave labour camp. He did not survive.Irina, Elly & Adalbert were deported to Auschwitz in 1944. The mother & the boy were photographed by the SS on the selection ramp at Auschwitz II-Birkenau (marked in the picture). They were murdered in a gas chamber. Elly survived.#Auschwitz #Holocaust #Jews #history
