Why do fudds keep insisting on mentioning the .45's "stopping power" when the bullet flies so slow?

The rationale I've always heard is a 9mm is more likely to zip through your soft bits but a FUDDY FAHV can drop its whole 230 grain load in your body and stop, delivering kinetic energy to your organs. Which is kinda retarded, it's not as if a .45 can't punch through you. I think semi autos that reliably feed hollow points put that to rest anyway

Lots of gunfighter cops used wadcutters in their wheelguns because they noticed guys went down more often after being shot with one. Could be some biases at play but I think it's a similar concept

@Ottovonshitpost I like a good 9mm, and I wish I could also like the .45 for what virtues it still has over the former but God fucking damnit, the fudds... their voices just won't stoo ringing in my ears...

Oh yeah, cartridge/bullet variety in the days before reliable hollow points in semi autos were a big reason whycops stuck with revolvers for so long. A 1911 couldn't feed a Keith Semi Wadcutter but a Model 19, no sweat

@Ottovonshitpost @Curvin but then the same design of hp in a .45acp format would still transfer that much more energy — this is when the argument turns into one of capacity and accuracy of follow up shots: but clearly that was just a psyop by the FBI way to allow women to be cops

@Scourge @Ottovonshitpost thought that was among one of the reasons why modern 1911 clone pistol triggers got so light.

@Curvin @Ottovonshitpost GI spec ones, sure. But there was about 120 years of learning and tuning by guys to get them better. With a little work and a good craftsman, you could get a 1911 functional with a few favorite loads even back in the day. Whether that was duty ready, only a few thousand rounds would tell you

@Curvin @Ottovonshitpost any sao trigger will be inherently lighter, mechanically. the old mil-spec 1911s just had heavier triggers for the same reason armory rack M4s have heavier triggers than their commercial counterparts: retards

Bill Jordan, who practiced shooting more than probably any cop who ever lived, said that the 1911 wasn't a good cop gun because it didn't point like a revolver and it took longer to draw. His biases came from shooting as much as he did but the average cop never trained like him and now they have retard proof polymer nines, which is fine I guess

@Ottovonshitpost @Curvin Really quite emblematic of the decline when you think about how old police units used to be content to have a 5-round M&P K-frame and not feel like they needed more gun. In most places in america, even the later 357s seemed like overkill, when the town was white. Depressing.

Right,I did thinking on this. Bill Jordan's dream cop gun was a .41 magnum with a special police load. Right after he retired you had the NYPD stakeout squad was getting into major league shootouts with nigger gangs over corner stores and Jim Cirillo was dumping the cylinders on three revolvers in one fight. Eurocops would use .32s and .380s because they didn't have niggers. A wheelgun lawman is from the past just like White America is.

@Ottovonshitpost @Curvin I only really heard of 1911 guys when they were REALLy into IDPA stuff, so it was just as much a hobbyist rationalizing a need for firepower to sell his wife on why his gun costs as much as her car

@Ottovonshitpost @Curvin Bigger bullet means bigger wound with pistols. 9mm is fine but 45 is "more likely" to nick something important because of size

the idea of carrying 24 rounds across four revolvers instead of just 15+1 in a semi auto is just nuts. Also aren't stakeouts supposed to not involve shooting?

@sulaco @Ottovonshitpost @Curvin Because those 4 revolvers worked. 70’s semi autos weren’t quite to the point where you’d be comfortable trusting them. The military could run with them because they had other guys covering them should it not function, cops don’t have that luxury

He carried 3 .38s and 1 Walther PPK. In the early 70s NYC turned into even more of a nigger crume hellhole, and stores were getting robbed at high frequency. The stakeout squad would stake out a store with the express purpose of ambushing the gang that tried to knock it over. That's how often it was happening, you could pick a store and wait. Also in that time wondernines didn't exist and every cop carries wheelguns.

Ah, ok. Wasn't fully aware of the context. I remember my dad telling me a story about nyc in the late 80's. A bunch of his friends from illinois had come out for his wedding, and and they had all gone to the city to do whatever. Like six guys in their 20's, who didn't feel safe walking a couple blocks in NYC. They were all big guys, all of 'em did construction of one variety or another, and niggers were still trying to fuck with 'em. And it's not like they were in fucking harlem or some shit either, in manhattan, iirc.

@Ottovonshitpost @sulaco @Curvin @WashedOutGundamPilot People also forget old revolver rounds were piss poor because they didnt seal up all the way. 9mm in the 20s had more power than a 38special

I'm kinda surprised by that, given how long we had semi autos before the 70's.
