       Especially the "I just couldn't do it anymore" part of the narrative. Every "I couldn't do it anymore" is propped up by dozens of people who crossed that line years ago and are still doing it anyway.

       (perhaps we could also talk about the "sometimes you need to say no to other people and yes to yourself" narrative and how the only word for a father who does that is "deadbeat". Lots of highminded advice out there for non-caregivers.)

       @avdi I don’t disagree but I would like to point out cultural differences.In the US, people get 10 days off per year, and the the general culture frowns upon anyone who are not workaholics… doesn’t matter which side of the fence you’re on, societal expectations will not be happy with your choices then.I live in a country where I legally get 4 weeks off pa before other allowances. It is an improved situation to be in. Still, I am amazed how some can afford longer breaks
