"[...] if you think the fact that my Internet of Shit door-lock failed because the company that designed it made no plan to let me into my house if they went out of business would make me sympathetic to that company, you are out of your fucking mind."@pluralistic explains with an unusual degree of restraint why bailing out SVB was a bad move (for us little people).https://pluralistic.net/2023/03/15/mon-dieu-les-guillotines/

@Bro666 @pluralistic I don't get it. The FDIC should refuse to honor depositors' insurance because they are tech companies?

@heppycat @Bro666 @pluralistic No, people are right to be upset that this failure happened. Many suffer from shit-tier policies that the government does not have equivalent insurance for.

@bananarama @Bro666 @pluralistic So this is just a "I'm mad as hell" rant channeling Howard Beale.

@heppycat @bananarama @pluralistic Isn't the message more about how being wayward with other people's money (like workers' payroll), should have consequences? Shouldn't techbros pay out of pocket and have assets seized? Wouldn't that be the capitalist way? You know "personal responsibility", instead of having daddy-state foot the bill.I mean, o todos moros, o todos cristianos: if poor people get ousted from their homes, and have their possessions impounded when they can't pay their debts...

@Bro666 @heppycat @pluralistic Tech bros ARE paying for the disruption. Many companies are going to go bankrupt because of this, even if they get their money back. At least this way some of the bills will be paid before they go under. The state is not footing the bill either, this is fiction.
