       Really tempted to build an RSS feed proxy whose only purpose it is to filter car related content out of my subscriptions.For some reason, both German major IT publications I follow (heise and golem) regularly cover cars and have no way to filter that out :(

       @zekjur I thought about writing a nice RSS client service able to filter/categorize/clean content, fetch from non-RSS sources (the killer feature) and expand partial content. Some may even pay for it (hey Feedly is making a couples millions in revenue). But I have the feeling that any product of the kind would get sued into oblivion. Most big websites *really* do not want people to use feeds (hint: ads).

       @galdor @zekjur this is what yahoo pipes was. There are oss libs to do it but it doesn’t look like a business case exists to maintain a saas

       @frew @zekjur Maybe maybe not. Lots of people were really upset when Yahoo Pipes was discontinued. It is really hard to sell this kind of very generic product (it does not really solve a big, obvious problem). And there is still the problem of not getting nuked by ads-based content providers.There may be a way to spin it differently, but I'm not seeing it yet.

       @pbeccard @frew @zekjur I do not use anything, this is the problem. I would love to be able to curate a collection of pages (posts, news, whatever) from various sources in a nice UI to avoid having to poll dozen of different websites, most with interfaces I dislike.But I have not found the right software/service.
