       @katherine_montalto I'd recommend Ubuntu or Fedora. Both have good user experiences and Fedora has a media creator where you can easily make an installer. https://getfedora.org/en/workstation/download/

       @katherine_montalto They're both user friendly, can be as easy or as complex as you like, and have live images so you can try everything before installation.

       @katherine_montalto I guess the best place to start is by trying out different distros and seeing which you like. From there trying to use it each day to get used to it

       @sullybiker thanks! I really appreciate that. most of the art stuff I use is open source so it seems like the logical next step is an open source operating system. I'm getting fed up with every new windows upgrade.
