@chrisgn ah mate. 😓But then, at least your employment is probably more honest in lots of ways and they'll never be permitted take your soul and you'll never suffer the worst excesses of "organisational bullshit". (If we want to know why there's been a big spike in economically inactive people, apart from long COVID, someone needs to look at that, really, make work more pleasant and people might want to do it)#contractorTradeoffs ? 👍

@lostsettler yeah, that's part of the reason I went this route. The are tradeoffs (admin, making sure there's enough work etc), but I prefer it this way. My views on work are fairly radical, I suspect. Most work that gets done does nothing to make life better for anyone, and only exists to make money, which is a dreadful reason. A rational species would look to minimise this and let people be fulfilled in work that they enjoy. But capitalism requires us to be economically active...

@chrisgn I can't say I blame you. It does seem like firms have been treating permanent staff as contractors for years anyway (mass layoffs, anyone?) while still requiring them to sell their soul and succumb to the endless management bullshit. And then you find out you can't get a job anywhere else cos you've been institutionalised and your mind isn't working any more.Getting paid and turning up is vastly preferable to the majority of things out there. Plus you get to meet new people loads!
