Spring is a-popping in southeast #Texas, these are from this past weekend, driving though the #wildflower country between Houston and Austin. Thought it might be too early for much color but the blooms are coming out, especially the bright orange Indian Paintbrush, aka Castilleja or Prairie Fire. And of course the TX state flower the Bluebonnets. Looking like it might be a really good year, should be peaking next 2-3 weeks.#flowers #flowerphotography #photography #nature #NaturePhotography

@Trilobyter marvelous! Spring in Texas looks like a gorgeous picture. I'm looking forward to seeing the beautiful scenery as it gradually peaks over the next 2-3 weeks!

@Trilobyter I used to live in Austin, and have recently moved to a place outside Asheville. We're getting some flowers now, and I initially thought I had bluebonnets. Turns out these are grape hyacinths and they're related to ... asparagus(?).

@Trilobyter they’re at least a couple of weeks early this year. After last year’s rather sad showing, they’re spectacular. Even the meadows on our property are amazing.

@schfinkes right? I was very pleasantly surprised, we took nothing but back roads on Sunday head back from near Bastrop to our home north of Houston & they were gorgeous. And I know what you mean about last year, we went out to this same area a little bit later in the season & it was disappointing, I figured maybe were were too late but I guess it was just a bad year. We had a lot of heavy winter rains after the December freeze this year so maybe that made the difference.
