In the early 00s my mom would drop friends and I off at the skate rink that still had that aesthetic. Even that musty soda stained carpet and all. iirc the rink is still open, but under different owners. It had a large arcade cabinet section and the rink itself was neon lit with geometric fixtures. It was a time capsule, at least for a little bit. Not sure what it looks like now. I'd expect to find second hand dave & busters cabinets and maybe a paper-less token system.

I can drive about 40-50 minutes (traffic and stuff) to a mega arcade that hosts fighting game tournaments IRL. But yeah I remember!!!! I lived in fucking arcades. I actually even did fucking commentary for UMvC3 pools matches. (one time, and I know exactly why they didnt ask me to do it again)but yeah I used to stand on cardboard boxes and play fighting games while the cashiers would be out back smoking cigs and weed and stuff when i was young lol. And no the trend of arcades died in or around 2009 - 2011.

The architecture too. Older craftsman made homes being mowed down for cookie cutter pre-fabs. I say pre-fab because they build all of the framing offsite in a big factory then just dump them off a truck. Spics will then put them up in an assembly line fashion. To me it's just a trailer with more square footage. No originality. No buffer space between neighbors. I can go on because I've done some time in the whole residential sector.

Yea, also a lack of communal spaces is driving people to seek out experience based venues. So if you have a strong enough HoA with your neighbors and less so corporate managed, you can petition the county or state to designate your community as a "Historic Architecture District" - this is why some city streets have really old homes, sometimes 100 years or older on it. However, there are strings attached and expectations. You have to upkeep maintenance and appearance. The highest gain to it is property value. This insures when you go sell the home, it will retain a lot of value AND you have a little re-assurance the person your selling to will not be able to just tear down your memories.... but it may get renovated to a duplex.

Move to a historical neighborhood you will love it. It's what I did and all the homes are different, hell even the duplex's look amazing. There really needs to be more character in homes. I just don't know if people would pay for it or not. Less room, more detail, differentiation of homes, uniqueness and quality over quantity

Pass. I've done a bit of research and already found a few avenues to purchase older homes for a fair value - problem is some are absolute fixer uppers. Good thing I know how to do shit and cut that cost. A little bit. I want to get some experience in framing and drywall first, then I'd be even more set to go on doing flips.

Oh no doubt. Avoid these at all costs. Like they're great rentals or final homes for you geriatric parents who want a little bit more dignity than a nursing home, but in the long run - they're shit. That's why I consider them "Trailers with extra sqft" - the construction holds up for about 10 years then it needs repairs after settling. Heh and the rush to build them often leaves flaws and cut corners. -_-
