       Some Republicans are already blaming "woke" banking practices for the SVB failure. But if banking regulations hadn't been loosened during the Trump administration, primarily (but not totally) by Republicans, odds are that irrespective of claimed "wokeness" the problems would have been caught in time to avoid the collapse. And who was the biggest public cheerleader for those regulatory cutbacks? Trump, of course.

       @lauren presumably those nutjobs are blaming "wokeness" precisely because they know who's to blame and are intentionally attempting to deflect.

       @lauren In calling SVBs practices work, I've been wondering what about buying Treasury Bonds is woke, but glad to do my part in upholding wokeness in my investing.

       @lauren I followed the SVB story a bit over the weekend.  I'm not sure if I have it right, but my understanding is this:1. SVB invested large chunks of their assets/deposits in bonds or similar instruments that would crash in value if interest rates rose.2. Because, despite a couple thousand years of history, they figured the last few years of near-zero / inflation-adjusted negative rates were definitely Here To Stay.  Interest rates don't go up!3. Interest rates went up.?#FailWhale

       @lauren Republicans are hitting that “woke” well pretty hard. They might want to pace themselves. How about saying this was due to the “War on Christmas”? Or dirty song lyrics made them do it? I’m sure if they tried hard enough they could blame it on drag shows.
