#videoediting on #linux is a mess!I used to use #kdenlive but it became so buggy. Used version 18.12 in a Debian 10 #distrobox container for a while but it started to show items on audio tracks incorrectly, needed to restart the program too often. Damn it was so annoying.Switched to #shotcut . Not bad but when I put transitions in the video, the audio starts to break and ofc if I restart the program it works fine for a while.Tried a few others but found no good alternatives.#fosserytech

@fosserytech you're welcome ;)it's in alpha stages at the moment, but it seems to work well despite the relative youngness of the project

@fosserytech Pitivi and openshot worked ok last time I used them, but I agree, crashing was always such an issue for years.

@dm319 OpenShot is so laggy now (at least for me). Pitivi would be pretty good if it didn't miss so much options

@fosserytech Kdenlive 18.12? That version is very old, heck it's from before the refactoring! Try using the AppImage or Flatpak versions.

@fosserytech you need to put some work into it…but BMD’s Davinci is still available on Linux.

@fosserytech If the last time you used Kdenlive it was still on the 18.x series, you can't really use the present tense to talk about video-editing on Linux, as that was nearly half a decade ago.Try something from the most recent 22.x series:https://kdenlive.org/en/download/and see what you think.

@frd I used it because newer version are even more buggy. 20.12 has some rendering bugs and in 22.12 the Effects panel appears blank white (with X11 and Wayland too)

@brettjungbluth the problem is DaVinci Resolve is proprietary and my goal is to only use FOSS.I put much work into my videos. The problem is with the bugs that I can't avoid.

@fosserytech Yeah. Distro-specific implementations can be finicky and are often buggy. Your best bets are always the AppImage and the FlatPak. Glad to hear you got everything working.

@fosserytech Got it. As a Broadcast Engineer I’m looking for more stability for my team, Windows and Adobe are the bane of my existence. Necessary in my current day to day.

@nekothegamer thanks. I noticed that the RPMFusion package of Kdenlive is buggy but the Flatpak and AppImage versions work fine so I stick with the Flatpak for now
