I hope people start considering putting tags/cw on some of the banking news that is coming out. Yes, the system is broken, and built around infinite growth and much bullshit and... lots of decent people who work these startups are wondering if their paycheck is going to clear. Compassion. Please.

@otto The government must keeps regulations in place. Banks gamble because they know they will be bailed out. Cryptocurrency is a dangerous investment which should not be guaranteed by the government.

@Language1230 And what I am saying, if you had read the post, was that we need to be sympathetic towards people impacted through no fault of their own. This isn't an invitation for a lot of hot takes, which are ultimately the problem I was complaining about.

@otto I read the post, thank you. My point remains. I understand that depositors will get their money, but am appalled that we continue to bail out companies, but not individuals. Most of the deposits exceeding insurance limits were companies or wealthy people. Try to avoid snark on here, please.

@Language1230 @otto companies who need to pay their employees.Don’t pretend this doesn’t impact the working class just because you personally aren’t effected. Not all businesses that took VC funds are crypto scams, not all employees are executives who can ride this out in their mansions. When payroll can’t be paid it effects everyone from engineering to janitorial.

@lordbowlich @otto Janitors typically do not exceed the $250K cap. Those employers also got forgiven PPP loans. I just wonder why individuals are last to get help, but corporations are first?

@Language1230 @otto the point is their employer who was keeping payroll in the bank does exceed 250k and without access to the deposits cannot pay that janitor for their wages. A lot of people did not get paid on Friday and sweated it out over the weekend if they would get paid at all.
