#Podcasters. I recorded my wedding video and the audio is HOT since the photographers placed my mic beside the speaker. Is there any way I can improve the audio? I have access to OpenSource and Adobe tools. #inthemorning

@TheEagerOne First thing to try (if you haven't already) is Noise Reduction effect in Audacity.

@TheEagerOne sorry, not really. There are 2 places where it would have distorted. Depending on the quality of the mic, if it was right in front of the speaker there is a chance it was louder than the capsule could handle, and that will give it a ton of saturation. Then the signal level going onto the video recording is almost certainly digital and was probably clipping. Also those cheap wedding radio mics are usually distorted anyway, so that's 3 places.

@TheEagerOne In short, nope. The accident is already in the underwear. Whatever the few better audio tools can do is merely polishing a turd, it'll never be properly presentable, let alone good quality. The lesson of the story is obviously that never let anyone place your audio gear, unless you've got a skilled audio person onboard. Sound is 50% of the video, and always your responsibility. No excuses. The second lesson of the story is the reminder of the benefits of a dual audio setup.

@jessecoynelson not yet. I would have to first remove the audio track from the video to get it into audacity

@TheEagerOne If it's an mp4 (or even other video formats), there are free online convertors to just extract the audio from a clip. But then you would have to reinserted it. I worked with Final Cut Pro long ago. Don't know about freebie video editing stuff online... I'd guess it exists.
