@adamSomeone who wants to make a name for themselves.This is a very common thing in programming. No name programmers need something to pad their resume and try to position themselves as leaders in a field. One of the easiest ways is to make a new standard and act as lord over it.Don't be afraid to tell them off if something won't work.

@adam Adam, we were at the dinner at Podcast Movement in Dallas which suddenly turned into an awkward “WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING TOGETHER” set of speeches - and this is the results 9 months later - I’d heard it was to launch at Podfest (end Jan) and then at PodMovEvo (last week), but still hasn’t launched. I wasn’t asked to take part either. It seems to have a number of podcast hosting companies taking part. Oddly secretive.
