@graf @LordMordred I didn't like 3's story or DLCs, keep in mind I went into it a fallout nerd to begin with so it was just really disappointing. Nowhere near as bad as it has gotten, but still left a bad taste in my mouth.

@RatPoster @LordMordred 3 was bethesdas first fallout entry in the IP and their second leaning hard on the already aging gamebryo engine and they did a great job with it. with iron sights and some minor fixes its actually a really great game outside of the story. story in bethesda fallout titles is never great, so i dont consider it when i weigh 3.3 and 4 are not equal, 4 was great visually but the story was so fucking stupid it makes me not really want to play it. i have an ongoing survival i should finish on deck and i probably will after botw.fallout 3? ill replay a bunch because its interesting to me and it tickles the old style itch without having to sink hours into morrowind or oblivion

@graf @LordMordred It could have been a lot of things, but I don't excuse their practice of leaving games unfinished so mod devs can fix it. It came out broken, buggy and just sloppily made. Bethesda also don't get what makes a fallout game feel like a fallout game, so it feels like i'm interacting with a skinwalker game pretending to be in a setting I like.

@RatPoster @graf Honestly New Vegas feels that way as well in some regards but I can understand that given their short span of 18 months to make a product. 3 and New Vegas feel somewhat believable but 4 just looks odd one way or another not to mention most places feel more livable in New Vegas than Megaton in 3 or Diamond City in 4.

@LordMordred @graf Obsidian did a better job of capturing some of the style and humor of fallout, even if it too isn't quite the same. Fallout is supposed to be a post-post-apocalypse setting, where there are numerous established settlements and factions. Bethesda wants it to be an immediate post apocalypse and goes out of their way to try to not establish any settlements beyond barely functional scavengers. Fallout 1 and 2 had functional towns and proto-nationstates that could turn into the nations in NV.

@RatPoster @graf Yeah Bethesda seems to forget that Fallout is a retro futuristic world meets Mad Max style apocalypse in favor of shit you see in 4 of everyone wearing 50s clothes. I wish the Fallout games looked and feel like most of the concept art does for those games.

@w0rm @LordMordred @RatPoster see I like the way 4 did it. I was sick of being level locked in 3/NV so it was a welcome change. so was the entire SPECIAL system overhaul. I like that. nobody should enter a game with 10 INT and just steamroll progression. you should be able to fully spec your character in an RPG and fallout 4 does that better than 3/NV
