       The "Golden Age" of social media has passed. It will likely largely be downhill from this point onward for the foreseeable future. This analysis will no doubt bring sadness to some of you and great joy to others. So it is written. So shall it be done.

       @lauren I think the Golden Age died sometime in ~2014, when we realised what those social media companies really were, carrion pickers for our data.Then there was this long dark age until I think 2018 when the new face of social media had arisen lead by the Fediverse. The Silver Age social media! Meta is in shambles walking towards it's quiet death. Twitter, well... Instagram and Ticktock are well on their way as the common idea that they are bad for you proliferates. Long live Mastodon!

       @Madagascar_Sky No, the real specter is what governments are about to do. ID requirements, changes to 230, mandated micromanaging content for political gains of the Right and Left. Eventually this will seep down to even to distributed platforms.
