@chjara Honestly I just hate the dogshit planet generation movement and lack of purpose of planets except being a resource mineI suppose that could be done just with lua modding (to an extent) but yeah the engine needs an overhaul

@meeper not really, the races in NMS are a bit underwhelming- gnome space jews (previously space nazi germans)- buff dinosaur-gorilla hybrid bent on violence- sexy robots- anomaly race (various)- player race (literally astronauts (technically part of above (you can still cosplay as any of the above)))

@chjara I try frackin but really I don't find it fun tbh, byos ship progression overhaul is kinda nice but the whole reasearch system is kinda tedious also break compat with a lot of cool modsI would kinda like a sort of a mixed terraria-minecraft storyish escape the planet kind of progression or just kinda ditch ship travel for a more region travel system (ie you're stuck on a planet say initially an island and gradually unlock more of it, so it's actually planet size)

@hj @meeper the starbound races are all just human reskins without proper unique stories last I checkednever played NMS and don't know much about it, but did a few playthroughs of starbound during the alpha/beta

@brad @meeper in NMS all races (except the weirdos) have rather deep lore that ties into game's setting and overall world, it's one of the better worldbuilding. Without too much spoiling - one race was very aggressive and expansive, enslaved other race, who is somewhat tied to fabric of reality and they used that to make their masters less agressive. However that aggressive race's behavior made the space police go completely fucking insane and overprotective.And you can learn a lot about it not just from reading books but from interacting with NPCs and terminals and doing story quest. There are deus-ex like lore books in game, but everything I know I learned from interactions and story quest.
