Oh right here is a single zap ⚡ for your troubles. I can send as many zaps as I want because they're free.

I think I'm pretty well educated on the available technology at this point. Fediverse is great, but decoupling accounts from servers is an improvement, and having cryptographically signed events is crucial when AIs can mimic a person.

Decoupling from servers means there is zero community, you're just floating in the ether hoping someone else decides to pay attention to your inane ramblings. On Fedi each instance has its own personality and quirks which increases "buy-in." As it stands Nostr is just a shittier version of Twitter, all of this buzzword bullshit about cryptographically signed events are non-issues. Also "mimic a person?" I could write up a bot that cloned your account 24/7 and updated the biographical information and copied status updates instantly, except that once in a while I'd add in inflammatory status updates that would get you in trouble. The only way to prove which account was yours is by third party verification, same as the Fedi.

Yup! I wish we had fedi ls user base here but they are not moving. We can build something better

I'm also encouraging Nostr users to check out Fediverse and the Mostr bridge. Walled gardens are a problem anywhere, including Nostr itself being one.

I'm not against Nostr entirely, I just push back against the woo-woo. Since its an open standard people can merge the two communities via bridges, which has already happened, at this point its hard to call Nostr it's own community, its just a part of the Fediverse now.

Not to most since they don’t use the relay. Nostr looks bad on the fedi side with the long names and people hate it

Alex has a pull request for Soapbox that truncates it down to 8 characters. The reply portion apparently will still be huge as fuck and hell threads will kill themselves as more and more Nostr users enter but visually reading the status wont be as awful.

Are there no communities on Nostr? Are private keys not important for securing identity in a world of AIs?#[0]

What the hell does AI have anything to do with identity management? Stop fucking throwing random buzzwords at stuff it has no relation to. A private key is useless on its own as an identity mechanism unless you have some form of generating trust, usually a third party that is known to be owned by you (a domain name with a website probably) that directs to this private key.
