I had an SD card go bad. I reflashed the image onto a brand new SD card and was back up and running in minutes. All of the data is on the attached storage.

Depending on what your error is, yes. You mentioned SD so I thought you already determined the card was bad. It's honestly not as bad as it sounds.

I’m honestly just guessing. When I moved the node got unplugged. Just sat down to set everything up again and I can’t get Umbrel.local to load and nothing showing up on angry ip looks like it’s the node either

im guessing then since you just moved that the node may not be getting an IP address. wired? wifi? do you own the internet in your new place? same modem and router as before? new stuff?

Tried that and couldn’t find where to see a list of connected devices. Lemme try again. I’ve been trying to figure this shit out for an hour and a half lol

There are eight IP addresses that are simply called unknown, there is another one that is called unknown That doesn’t have an IP address? Everything else I know what it is.

well, it doesn't hurt to try them all. worst case is you can't connect. http://192.168.1.100 or whatever.

make sure all cables are plugged in securely. yoink the power cord out. plug it back in. wait a minute. see if a new IP address shows up on your router dashboard.verify the cable and port work in the new router. do you have a laptop or desktop you could plug in to verify that it's working and getting internet access? im really guessing it's one of the above and nothing is actually wrong with the raspberry pi.

But I thought unplugging the power cord was what caused this in the first place? This is what happens every time I try to fix this, I spend several hours getting nowhere and then get tired and give up. Everything is plugged in properly, I just tried a different ethernet port. I’ll wait a few minutes and then give up again. 🙏 thanks for trying to help, I’m just really frustrated… I haven’t been able to get my node to work for months because it simply won’t connect. It’s very possible that I am missing something really simple and stupid but I don’t think so. I appreciate you Derek!!

Pulling the power cord can cause SD card corruption but it's also inevitable for Raspberry Pi/Umbrel. What lights are flashing or solid on the front of your Pi? Red is power. Green blips flashing is activity. If you have no green, it's probably a bad SD card.If SD cards are cheap and it's a 5 minute reflash to fix it

OK I am going to try one last thing at this point which is to re-flash. I have asked several times but no one has actually answered, so I would appreciate if I could just find out… do I delete everything on the sd before I reinstall everything?

DO NOT use the SD Card for any sort of heavy read/write data like a database. SD Cards are not meant for such use, they corrupt easily and flashing / rewriting the data does not work. If you're going to use a Pi for a relay then get a USB drive with a few terabytes of space and write to that. It will be speed bound since the Raspberry Pi shares the Ethernet Port bandwidth with the USB ports but a small relay should probably be fine if you manage the amount of users. I don't know what model of Rasp Pi you have, but you should attempt to get the operating system off the SD Card as well. I can't comment on connectivity issues, I don't know anything about Nostr's stack to give advice beyond check that your ports are forwarded correctly at the router level and if you're even able to connect to your house, many ISP block inbound connections on all ports.

Oh, thats what I thought "node" was referring to. Either way get off the SD Card and onto real storage for both data and OS, it will save you a lot of headache. Also make sure your Pi is getting proper power, sometimes Micro-USB cords and the plugs don't push enough volts.
