@aljazeera Despite the tireless efforts of American warmongers, the peaceful reunification of China is inevitable.

@JoeQuinlan @aljazeera you mean the PRC will become a democracy? We can all dream.

@alemacilenti @aljazeera I dream of the day when the USA becomes a democracy. We're ruled by capitalist Oligarchs who greedily pursue an imperialist foreign policy in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

@JoeQuinlan @aljazeera And so you're rooting for Chinese capitalist oligarchs who greedily pursue an imperialist foreign policy in Asia (and Africa, and anywhere else if they could). Why? The Taiwanese overwhelmingly do not want to "reunite" with the PRC dictatorship, not peacefully, not by force.

@JoeQuinlan @aljazeera as to Europe: I live there. I'll hands down take US influence rather than the Russian alternative.

@alemacilenti @aljazeera Communism in China fell after Mao's death. By 1980, many features of capitalism had been restored. The PRC has its billionaires - but every so often one or two of them are convicted of economic crimes and shot. America's ruling Oligarchs are on a non-stop crime spree and fear no consequences. The USA has bases in over 100 foreign countries. The PRC has a naval base at Aden. And that's about it. In no sense can the PRC be fairly described as imperialist.

@JoeQuinlan @aljazeera They don't have naval bases abroad because they can't and not many countries are so desperate as to let them, not because they wouldn't like to. They claim Taiwan and most of the South China Sea for themselves, ignoring international law. You think the Chinese are somehow immune from thirsting for power? You believe if the Chinese were in the US' position as the world's top military they wouldn't abuse their power? Just see how they treat their neighbours.

@JoeQuinlan @aljazeera As to capitalism: China's is just as turbocharged as the US', with fewer (read no) environmental laws and a workforce treated as little more than slaves (and actual slavery). China's GINI index is 38.5, not much better than the US. If you are looking up to China as a model to follow, you are sadly misguided. Disclaimer: I lived in China for longer than I would have liked to.
