       We need to draw some clear red lines and be brave enough to simply ban certain uses of AI technology. In particular, uses with unacceptable risk to #fundamentalrights. This would not be the first time that scientists, philosophers, lawyers and politicians call for such a ban.

       One #dataprotection principle is #dataminimisation that requires personal data to be adequate, relevant & limited to what is necessary for defined purposes.  There is an evident tension btw data minimisation and the well-known hunger for data of most #machinelearning models.

       The main mitigation measures currently considered to protect #machinelearning models from confidentiality risks are #anonymisation, differential privacy and the use of #syntheticdata. However, none of these is a silver bullet.
