@Gillinger @therightarticle Important not to create drama out of every misstep, unfortunate phrase, misunderstanding. Starmer wants to get the Tories out. He's got a good chance. Let's support that excellent aim, and improve policies once he's in! #GTTO #GetTheToriesOut #KeirStarmer

@ORIOliver @Gillinger After a whole tsunami of missteps that becomes a difficult ask and an impossible one for many excellent people and activists who are now former Labour supporters and members including those who chose to leave and those expelled often on the most ridiculous and trumped up grounds.

@therightarticle @ORIOliver Another misstep? #Labour respond to Lineker's tweet:A spokesman for Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said comparisons with Germany in the 1930s "aren't always the best way to make" an argument.I would argue that #Starmer would earn a lot more respect if he actually backed him and agreed that that is exactly the argument.

@Gillinger @therightarticle Starmer’s ‘Nu-New-Labour’ is now a ‘safe pair of hands’ for the establishment. If you think Starmer will suddenly open the doors of Labour to expelled socialists, left- wingers, anyone supportive of workers, or refugees, or Palestinian rights, or women, or, or……Wake up, Labour is in the pockets of the same class as the Tories, Sir Keir will see to that.

@Reddog @Gillinger @therightarticle So what is the alternative? Nobody has had the courage to form a new political party that embraces socialist ideals. Therefore to reject Keir Starmer’s Labour is to embrace the Tories. Sorry. I am not going to do it.

@isaacmottistone @Gillinger @therightarticle As is your right. I will vote for the candidate who best represents my politics. If there is none, then I exercise my right not vote. Voting for lease worst is not my thing.

@Reddog @isaacmottistone @Gillinger Same here. There are two flaws in that view. First it was those on the right of the party itself that enabled a Tory victory in 2017. Second, it is wrong to imply that the right and only course is to vote Labour because that is what you are telling me I should do. I will make my own mind up about how I vote.

@Gillinger @therightarticle @ORIOliver Disputable - there are 6 million reasons why comparisons to 1930s Germany should be avoided.

@jackLondon @therightarticle @ORIOliver This is how the Nazi Party operated -1. Demonise a section of society by blaming them for the ills of the country (they're coming over here, taking our jobs. They're all criminals).2. Encourage the right wing press to vilify them and whip up ill feeling (Mail, Express).3 Refuse to condemn attacks on them (Liverpool asylum hotel).4. Pass laws to restrict their movement (Stop the boats)Spot the difference.

@CableSt @Gillinger @therightarticle OK, fair enough if that's how you see it ... But I'd hate the Tories to get back in ... I'll just keep chivvying for being as progressive as possible given the electorate and the media landscape.

@CableSt @Gillinger @therightarticle Not really. But I'm not super well informed. I just broadly see someone who takes principled stance on many things, doesn't sink to personal abuse or cheap jibes. I dare say he gets stuff very wrong, but never as wrong as a Tory. He undoubtedly needs critics, but he's our best bet in my opinion. Each to their own! #GTTO #GetTheToriesOut

@ORIOliver @CableSt @Gillinger Interesting perspective. In my view and in the view of many others he is one of the most disingenuous, hypocritical unprincipled politicians in my lifetime.

@ORIOliver @CableSt @Gillinger Undermined Corbyn. Ditched popular manifesto and ten principles on which he was elected. Buried the Forde report. Expelled many good members and activists. Imposed candidates on CLPs. Abstained and supported several Tory policies. Adopted Union Jack as backdrop for all pronouncements. Opposed strikes. Took a right wing position on immigration and asylum. Refused to rule out further privatisation of the NHS. Not in favour of renationalisation of public services.
