You would think that politicians who trafficked in conspiracy theories and misled Americans about the danger of covid-19 and the effectiveness of vaccines wouldn’t want to dwell on their record. Well, you would be wrong. As with murder rates, poverty, uninsured residents, poor schools and low age expectancy, covid numbers show that far from a model for the rest of the country, red states are distinguished by their failed policies and lousy statistics.https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/03/07/covid-response-maga/

@UROCKlive1 tragically, their voters will undoubtedly embrace selective amnesia, and pretend the Banana Republicans are being truthful.

@UROCKlive1 If you live in a red state you are more likely to die at a higher rate than blue states because of Republican policies. I think this can continue because 1) Fox doesn't correct politicians as much as it collaborates with them to form a narrative (eg propaganda) that is largely false and ultimately not in the best interest of their viewers, 2) the right has cultivated this deep well of hatred for the other half of America to the point they would vote their healthcare away so long as they're told "the right people will lose theirs."To your point, R's are trying to blame Fauci, the CDC, NIH, Democrats, businesses that required masks and punish them. The data or outcomes aren't the point for them. If they were looking for empirical, evidence-based, data-driven solutions to problems they would land on the same (or similar) solution as we did based on the science alone. Instead, FL hires a SG based solely on his ideology putting Floridians at risk and they still vote for him.

@UROCKlive1 Navigating the early months of the pandemic in a deep red state was difficult; dealing with denial by most of the people around me was nearly impossible. I know several who died as a consequence.

@UROCKlive1 it is so much easier to accept what the blowhards say than to challenge them. How did the south ever make it into the 21st century with their backwards thinking?
