So, I just got back from Florida and I'm currently visiting Idaho. Conservative areas are SO much more friendly than the libtard areas in WA and OR. Why do you think this is the case?

@SirAnthony I could have been more specific. The conservative areas have generally friendlier people than the liberal areas.

@temporaryDouchebag I know SO many people on SSRIs up here. I don't know if conservative areas take more than in WA.

@Peaceandprosperity similar map, but slightly different data.https://www.businessinsider.com/most-educated-states-map-2014-3This is coming from a BaS holder. I'm not saying being "uneducated" makes a person nicer. I think I could argue higher education creates assholes. Kaczynski knew what he was talking about.

@eightysixed I would be interesting to compare this to happiness by state. I think that there are a lot of college grads in liberal states who think that there is way more racism, misogyny, etc than there really is. The other interesting thing about Boise vs Seattle. The minimum wage is half as much in Boise. And in the Seattle area, restaurants can't find people to work. But that problem doesn't seem to exist in Boise. Everywhere I went, fully staffed. Weird, right?

@Peaceandprosperity Are we comparing cities in blue states to cities in red states? Or rural red to city blue?Rural areas have a requirement to be friendly. Because if you're rude to the guy at the grocery store, or cut someone off in traffic, you're probably going to find out he's your kids soccer coach, or delivers your mail. As for city compared to other cities... Well.... Libtards suck.

@MrsShill this is more of a general feeling I've been getting while traveling. Your thoughts regarding rural areas is valid. I live in a small town and I drive much nicer because I don't have the anonymity that I have in the big city. But even in Boise, people are more friendly than in the Seattle area. So I can't help but wonder if the psychotic underpinnings of wokeism isn't causing people to be a little bit angry all the time.

@eightysixed @Peaceandprosperity This is an interesting chart, primarily Colorado sticks out like a sore thumb, only a couple of east coast states exceeding its college graduate percentage of population. Is Colorado a magnet for anybody from flyover country that graduated from college?

@Peaceandprosperity I've been living in the panhandle for almost a year now. There are plenty of help wanted signs up here, lots of places running skeleton crews/reduced hours. I know the Boise area has more high paying/tech jobs than up north, especially post covid. Anecdotally I've heard the young workforce is moving away (many to attend college), or disinterested in the blue collar jobs prevalent here. Those left are in established careers, or retired. Again, mostly blue collar/tradesmen.

@Viking @Peaceandprosperity I found another broken out by county. It shows very clearly the counties with a major university has a much higher percentage of graduates. Consequently these are the counties that I have experienced the most unhappy/asshole types. As soon as you get away from these, typically urban areas the people become much friendlier, generally. I can only speak for WA, OR and ID, but I would guess it's the same all over. I believe college is the root cause of unhappiness.

@eightysixed @Viking that's an interesting thesis. I was in a fraternity in college and had a great time (for obvious reasons), but I think it was the comaradarie that made it the most fun. I was always around a bunch of guys with differing views about a variety of things. We weren't ever focused on social justice. More on physical and mental development. I really think that the pursuit of social justice leads to discontent because there is nothing an individual can do to make a difference.
