Millennial complaining moment: I consider myself a good employee, but I got written up for having a smoke at work but there’s a minimum of 4 employees who spend anywhere from 15-25% of their shift “using the bathroom.” #NotAJoke and they’re production employees. How do you get away with that? I just want to find a job where everyone shows up to actually work.

@Cbrooklyn112 well of course, but 2-4 times an hour? I wish I was exaggerating. Plus your break(s). We have real supervisor roles so I’m series when I say 15-25% of their shift

@Bryan_Richardson do they have some sort of no smoking policy? You are legally mandated to take breaks, depending on the length of your shift. How you spend those breaks is up to you. Those people who are checking their phone in the bathroom so much can br written up too. There is no law on the books that relates to bathroom usage. It's all about break time vs shift length.

@Peaceandprosperity no it’s fine they wrote me up but I think “pick your battles” applies here to an extreme if you knew what it was like here. Obviously yeah suck it buttercup for anyone who slacks but let’s be honest, employers/managers like that don’t stick around because no one would work. But there’s a line between taking a smoke and stealing a paycheck

@ReadyKilowatt it’s not even about being singled out. It’s just because it’s outside, you’re bound to be seen. We don’t have traditional supervisors out on the floor, so people do whatever they want. But they have a heartbeat and somehow remember where the place is everyday so they get to keep a their job

@Bryan_Richardson @ReadyKilowatt maybe you can get a doctor to write an Rx that you need to be outside more frequently to get your Vitamin D levels up. You really need to be more creative when dealing with authority. Always think outside the box because no one should live in a box.
