If the publishers win, Wikimedians lose. Did you know that there are >1 million links in Wikipedia to books & citations in our digital library? With these links, #Wikipedia editors & researchers can click on a reference and be taken directly to the page cited in our library, helping readers verify facts online. @internetarchive Thanks for mentioning this! It's been years since I've done any significant Wikipedia editing, but when I was active, the vast majority of my work was adding references. This would have been incredibly helpful. It is vital that this capability remains available.

@internetarchive Content owners like Sony make it impossible for musicians to upload their own performance of classical works, which have been in the public domain for decades or hundreds of years in some cases. This is what has happened as the US was transformed into a plutocratic economic and political totalitarian state.#freedomOfSpeech #firstAmendment #law #CivilRights

I can just but repeat what I already said on the issue:Your freedom ends where someone else's rights and property start.@internetarchive you made a great mistake by running a piracy website.https://mastodon.social/@AndersBaerbock/109538186448850593

@internetarchive The same goal? Interweb Archive's goal seems to be presenting copies of original content for posterity. Wikipedia's goal seems to be constantly modifying cherry-picked facts and opinions to lead readers to particular politically expedient conclusions.
