Harry Trumbore’s assignment to illustrate about 50 hairy hominids for Coleman and Huyghe’s “Field Guide to Bigfoot, Yeti, and Other Mystery Primates Worldwide” is unenviable — nevertheless he did great with the material he was given! This giant fella is part of the #MarkAHalliverse (not a co-author?!?!) and depicts an Am Fear Liath Mòr as a SUPER-supersized Gigantipithecus… in this canon these “True Giants” are convergently quite human-like.#Cryptid #Cryptozoology #Bigfoot #AmFearLiathMòr

I’m also quite fond of the Ngoloko depiction which doesn’t shy away from John Elliot’s absolutely bonkers description. More context about this… I’d hesitate to call it a cryptid, really a spirit could be more accurate:https://hatch.kookscience.com/wiki/Ngoloko

In this weird alternate cryptid-planet, North America has more apes than sub-Saharan Africa. This is the Fort Worth Monster / Goatman, depicted as a particularly large and almost bipedal white ape. And I’ve also included what exists of this creature from our world — a blobby photo.

The illustration of the Tano Giant really freaks me out. It’s in the “True Giant” “Class” but Trumbore illustrated it as a 15 foot tall cape-wearing, bobbleheaded, anthropophagous, monkey-like monster. Yikes. The original source is reprinted here (and uh… is definitely pretty gory):https://hatch.kookscience.com/wiki/Tano_Giant

And finally — MoMo, the Missouri Monster! The next makes no mention of Ghillie suits, hmm, but DOES speculate that this creature is a *hybrid* between two “Classes”: the Paranthropithecine “Neo-Giants” and the Homo gardarensis-derived “Marked Hominids”. This notion must have seemed extra-fantastical when published in the late 90’s but now it’s ripped from the headlines! Momo confirmed?
