I've been using small keyboard remote things made for HTPCs as a wirelesskeyboard/mouse for embedded systems I work on. It's far easier to change asmall USB dongle than replugging a couple of wires. And it's a really compactkeyboard/mouse so it doesn't clutter up my desk very much.Normally I use SSH to access these systems, but sometimes you need a localkeyboard for getting around in a TTY.I'm sure I'm not the first one to realize how perfect these remote keyboardthings are for this...

I use it when doing #steamdeck development too! (It's arguably more helpful in desktop mode...) @igalia

@craftyguy oh no shit that's an awesome dayjob! I really like my steam deck. And I'm the kind of guy who prides himself on finding things to hate about consumer products.... And everything else.Anyway. Please accept a digital pat on the back. Cuz I believe you guys are doing God's work over there!

@craftyguy@freeradical.zone Interesting, thanks for sharing!would be even better if it would support bluetooth alsohaving a switched-off monitor connected to get into docked mode is something that didn't come to my mind, yet (in PureOS the on-screen keyboard shows even if an external keyboard is connected without a monitor connected)I like the stand the L5 is sitting in. Are you happy with it and if so, which brand is it?

@me Here's the stand, I have a couple. Fairly simple things... https://www.nulaxy.com/products/nulaxy-a4-cell-phone-standYeah they do make Bluetooth keyboard remote things too, but often times Bluetooth isn't functional / up yet (e.g. pre-OS boot), so having a boring RF adapter is useful there. It basically just always works, as long as USB is functional.

@craftyguy wow this remote looks way better than those I have! Mouse with gyroscope looks great?

@stacyharper ya, I mean, I'm not going to be playing games with this gyro mouse... but it's good enough to do some basic navigation, and it doesn't require me to be right in front of the device using a mouse on a table.

@craftyguy oh nice, I didn't know these were a thing. Could be useful for these test devices where you need to type like 10 keys every few hours and have to have a whole extra keyboard on your desk just for that 😅I had a quick look and there's one called Zedo F40 which looks similar (and is much cheaper than I expected!); what's yours?

@1ace yeah exactly! I rarely need a keyboard/mouse on most things, and it's annoying to keep a full keyboard/mouse around for it.I have a Rii MX6 from ebay (IIRC)

@stacyharper here's the one I have: http://www.riitek.com/product/mx6.htmlBut I think there are several others. I actually found this one when looking for a new remote to use with Kodi. Then I realized it's also useful for dealing with random devices I play with :P

@frigginglorious thanks but I just started on the project fairly recently and can't really take credit for anything yet. Some of my colleagues, like @berto and @ebassi , have already done a lot of great work in SteamOS (not to mention the awesome work of dozens of others that also deserve praise...)
