For anyone unfamiliar with the Battle of Dien Bien Phu the concept of the French strategy was to encourage the Viet Minh to concentrate their forces and attack the isolated French garrison in a well fortified position to their advantage. Once the Viet Minh attacked, they would encounter a meat grinder and be easy pickings for superior French firepower and air support to wipe them out instead of chasing them across Indochina. What happened instead is the Viet Minh arrived with more firepower than the French garrison, isolated them from their support, and destroyed them. The exact same thing is playing out in the Donbass. The Ukrainians set up line after line of defense and fortresses like Dien Bien Phu but on a massive scale. The premise of this, I'm assuming, is they wanted the Russians to attack these pockets in concentrated spearheads to create a "meat grinder" and cripple the Russian army. What's happening instead is the Russians are spreading their forces and using much more superior firepower to isolate and annihilate these defensive positions. This is why the Ukrainians keep insisting they are grinding down the Russians by letting themselves get surrounded and overwhelmed; they are following this brain dead plan that NATO advisors gave to them and are insisting it's working when it isn't even close.RT: https://poa.st/objects/0fcd536f-3d3f-44a9-9804-4103356e3b8d

@sky999999 @weaf Something that always gave me a laugh was how poorly we exploited the resources, anyways. America would “invade for oil” but then not even be the primary beneficiary, it was a giant maze of puppeteers growing fat off it while the country sat there killing its sons and pretending it was righteous for NOT plundering

@weaf I never really understood this until my recent in depth research, but nobody really came away from the Spanish Civil War with conclusive ideas about armored strategies, and all of the more intelligent strategists cautioned against jumping to conclusions. The Germans refined the Blitzkrieg strategy at home because they ended up doing more conventional WWI style infantry support in Spain, which they figured out wasn't a good use of tanks and wasn't particularly effectiveThe US armor methodology of WWII was the same bad stuff, but we simply overwhelmed the Germans with numbers and infrastructure attacks with bombers in the same way that the Soviets did. I don't see evidence that our military ever understood how the Soviets actually fought, and there was always an assumption during the cold war that our tech was just so much better to where it would overwhelm tactics, but there is no real evidence of that. Sure, it's way more expensive...

@RowdyRamzan @KarlDahl NATO actually did try adjusting to this back around the time when Lysychansk fell. They got the Ukrainians to shift to mobile warfare, something that worked with the Ukrainian superiority in numbers and motorized infantry in the face of Russian firepower at Kharkiv. But it failed miserably at Kherson and it's not an option anymore now that the Russians have fixed their manpower issue. This is why they're screaming for Leopards and F-16s, they can't break the lines without mobility and fire support now that their numbers are even. (Coincidentally, the French also used mobile warfare to push back the Viet Minh at DBP when it was clear the initial strategy had failed)

@Quentel @Boomerman @KarlDahl @RowdyRamzan I disagree with the intent. @weaf @Quentel @Boomerman @KarlDahl @RowdyRamzan I remember one guy pointing out with Russia that as much as they fucked up early on, they were actually very prepared in a different area, economically. So the sanctions and economic warfare they expected would destroy the Russian economy barely had any impact (least compared to the damage done to Europe) By contrast had similar sanctions been inflected in 2014 during the first conflict they may well have imploded Russia but some people in the Kremlin realized the need to diversify/eliminate their imports from Europe/West

@WashedOutGundamPilot @sky999999 @weaf I still think the "bloody for oil" thing was nonsense, though I may be colored by my father's service during that time. I didn't get the impression that the US "invaded Iraq" for oil, and I don't think the US was messing around in Eastern Europe for lithium. At the very worst they might do something like how England and the USSR invaded Iran for access (or to control access) to it's oil markets, but not to just take it.

@weaf its pretty incredible to think that the Vietnam war first started as a French war. this is well hidden to most people. Though jews fucked it up. The French would have won if the occupation kikes in NATO didnt withdraw all financial and military support, then changed their minds and sent White American sons to go die against an enemy who were actually their ally against the jew. And then after all that sacrifice, the fucking kikes dropped it all and made everything count for nothing. It was all a way for zog to kill White Americans and to destroy the Vietnamese people for no reason. The same bolshevik kikes who brought communism and infected the Vietnamese with it were the ones who decided that Americans should go fight against them. What should have happened is the Vietnamese should have fought together with the White Americans and leveled israel.

@KarlDahl @weaf American doctrine has been and remains "muh force multiplication" that assumes whole numbers rather than decimals for the "multiplication" part. Even the desert wars were successful less because of technology and more just having coordinated and organized ground units with overwhelming air support (no different than WWII).

@weaf I'm gonna drop an /x/ redpill on Vietnam that I think few have heard of. American soldiers encountered the Naga. And the real motive of the Vietnam war was to retrieve the technology of this underground. it is no coincidence that the Vietcong used tunnel systems. Some of the largest caves in the world are in vietnam. And just like Vietnam, the real reason for the Ukraine war has nothing to do about land or nationalities, as land is worthless, but rather the unexcavated Ancient Aryan Kurgan mounds that are replete throughout Ukraine. Millions of tons of gold and Aryan artifacts of high technology that can entirely rewrite the fake occupation history of the world is being pilfered and hidden. Artifacts I have seen in person. This is the real reason for the outdated trenches. It is a treasure hunting and out of place artifact coverup. youtu.be/B-NDWLNlNnY

Also to push russia behind yet another chokepoint. They already partially control the bosphorous, kaliningrad is noncontiguous, st petersburg is potentially cut off by finland and estonia, archangelsk too. Their only port that isn't behind a straits controlled by an EU/NATO member is vladivostok, and it's too far away to be a reliable trading port for the main population centers. They couldn't afford to let NATO have the azov sea and crimea.
