       @GaryBussy there is a historical darkness over what went on so it is hard to say. the church has erased as much of the evidence as they could find. I suspect there were several competing agendas that eventually get wrapped up into one thing.

       The story is very well written. I don't want to spoil anything but I'd recommend watching a recap video like the one I'll link just to get a short summary of the events of the game. It's all about the church in a fictional world screwing with historical accounts of events and obviously is meant to be a stab at the story of Jesus.
