       I feel like this needs to be said, the main reason conservatives are going after transgender people now is because they have no ideas to actually help anyone substantively and need an out group to make into a proverbial bogeymen to distract people from this fact. #fascism

       @tom4okstate It's also worth noting that they kinda tried over the decades through the 2000s to gin up a moral panic around gay people, but now that gay rights are more entrenched the politically safer target to persecute is trans people, with drag queens (for god knows what reason) being singled out for particularly great scrutiny and harsh treatment.

       @adamasnemesis exactly. These assholes were running out of groups to demonize so they've turned to the trans community now. Trans community has been around forever but to hear this current discussion from the right you'd think it was brand new. That's how you know even they know it's bad faith all the way down.
